Board Resolution of November 17, 2009 Re New Corporate Identity

Recent events have shown that the IPF-Institute for practice based research working autonomously and independently of other institutions and companies  which have also operated under the single brand name “ipf” has pursued different goals, but because of the brand name was often not properly understood in its independency.

On account of this, the board of the IPF-Institute has agreed to relinquish its rights to the brand name “ipf” and to apprise the institutions and companies which will continue to operate under this name (ipf-Verein, ipf-group, ipf-Multiversity) as well as third parties of this step.

As part of this process, the board has also agreed that, effective on and from January 1, 2010, the institute will operate under a new corporate identity, including changing its logo and desisting from using the acronym IPF in its new name. These steps are deemed necessary in order to avoid confusion with institutions which will continue to operate under the brand name “ipf” as well as to position the Institut für Praxisforschung as an autonomous institution.

The board would like to emphasize that the new corporate identity will in no way affect the general philosophy as well as the day-to-day operation of the institute. Ongoing projects will be completed according to the set schedule.

In the name of the Board Members:

Dr. Thomas Stöckli, Director of the Institute

About us

About the Institute

The Institute is led by a group of experienced academics and practitioners working in a number of universities and Steiner educational institutions.

They are dedicated to the promotion of practitioner research at all levels and into all areas of education. They believe that the theory and practice of education in the complex conditions of the early 21st century is best served by practitioners themselves engaging in clearly targeted and sensitively supported research into their own practice. They also believe this critical reflection builds confidence through its constructive challenges and makes us more effective educators. The greatest beneficiaries are, of course, the students in our care!

The staff at the Institute are engaged in research themselves and they seek to advise, and actively support other practitioners who are interested in critically reflecting and researching their practice. This advice and support can take various forms, including practitioner research training courses, the creation of research teams, and the provision of consultancies.

The objectives of the Institute

The core aim of the Institute is the promotion and development of the academically established understanding of practice-based research and its active application in the following fields:

  • Research into methodologies and methods bearing upon practice-based research
  • Development of pedagogical concepts and study programmes centred upon practice-based learning
  • Development of accredited study programmes and associated research instruments in cooperation with higher education institutions (leading to Bachelor and Higher Degrees)
  • Study programmes in the context of higher education programmes, continuing professional development and training sessions on the basis of practitioner-based research concepts for (and with) teachers, and also others concerned with modern educational issues, especially continuing professional development.
  • Consultancy with teachers and others seeking enhanced knowledge and understanding of critically reflective practice and practitioner research
  • Disseminating through publishing, websites and conferences the research and findings generated through these developments
